patriotic hearts beat red, white, and blue

A few days ago, I was on the road, heading to visit my baby nephews for some good ol' family time. If you don't already know, I'm an extremely, easily distracted person... Being behind the wheel, I was glancing over all of my surroundings when I suddenly spotted this cute little barber shop that had an entire wall dedicated to a painting of the American Flag. I'm not too sure if it was recently put up purely for the Fourth of July, but I automatically knew it was a great photography opportunity! You know.. for the sake of the holidays and what not. Therefore, I hit up Chris and insisted on snapping some Independence Day lookbook photos there. Gratefully, he's always down for whatever. Thanks Chris!

I decided to throw on one of my oldest pairs of shoes, these black Dolce Vita boots<3. I swear these boots have survived so much with me.. From trips to Vegas to hopping fences, they're just that comfy. I also thought sporting a dream catcher necklace would be appropriate seeing how we are celebrating living in the land of the free and home of the brave, where everyone strives for that "American Dream." Right?

Wishing everyone a grand federal holiday weekend. Happy early July 4th!

bad never looked so good

I've really got to hand this one to Lindsay Lohan. From the innocent little girl image in the first video I ever saw her in, "The Parent Trap," to what I've literally just stumbled upon, Theophilus London's music video for "Oops," Lindsay Lohan makes bad look so damn... good.
Mind blown.
I'm really lured by her dark style in the video even though summer calls for lights and brights in attire. Just wanted to share this youtube here for the record.

Anyway, here are two Polaroid musings from my MOCA adventure that I never got a chance to document:

Hope everyone's enjoying their first few weeks of Summer!

be a work of art or wear a work of art

Since summer started this week, I feel like I've been lusting for adventures. So on my spare days, I try to not let it go to waste by uncovering places and things that I have not personally seen or experienced yet. For instance, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, better known as LACMA, has been a place I've read about and seen so often in movies, like the recent No Strings Attached. However, I have not gone until this past Tuesday. Just my luck, LACMA offers free admissions into certain buildings of their museum on the second Tuesday of every month, and it just happened to be the second Tuesday of June! Sweet. For those of you who reside in Los Angeles, you're granted free daily admission after 5:00 p.m. with proof of residency. Take advantage!

LACMA was filled with random art pieces and collectibles worthy of admiration. I also got to introduce Chris to Royal T, an extremely cute tea-house-like brunch-lunch spot that closes at 6:00 p.m. daily. I swoon over this place for its constantly updated pieces of art hung around the entire venue, making it pretty much like an art gallery. You never know what you'll expect to see in terms of paintings, but one unique aspect you will definitely always see is how the waitresses will kindly approach you in their French-fitted maid uniforms. The decor of the place definitely sets a captivating aura for anyone appreciative of the arts and cool vibes.

I know my posts have been rather lengthy with an overflow of pictures but, when exploring art exhibitions, describing all I saw in words will just not suffice. Bare with me.

Art in the Streets: Banksy x Moca

If you haven't heard, Banksy is sponsoring free Monday admissions to the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, the Museum of Contemporary Art! Perfect timing. The free admissions started today (my first Monday of Summer Break) and will continue until August 8th. Inspirational opportunities, countless artistic contributions, and free fun? You must be a square if you refuse such an event.

Anyway, who is Banksy? For those of you who've ever noticed numerous stenciled-like graffiti art, with satirical messages or dark humor, randomly scattered along the streets, walls, and bridges of Los Angeles, Banksy is your man behind the masterpieces. He also spreads his political and social artistic messages elsewhere all over the world, but Los Angeles has been the ultimate city, where I've personally spotted his pieces. With that being said, thanks for today's enriching experience Banksy!

dirty day dreaming

New art work has been put up at the Royal Cup Cafe in Long Beach for sale. What instantly caught my attention, amid stepping foot inside, was the painting section of musical memoirs as shown in the first photo. Dedications... Dedications of unforgettable masterminded artists who have significantly marked their times in history. Over the generations, the entertainment industry has grown more and more seductive. As such artists fulfill their dreams, there's no denying that most success stories include hints of sexual appeal.  Wait, hints? Who am I kidding.. today's generation is as blunt as it gets. I don't know where exactly I'm going with this rambling but these random thoughts crossed my mind today, so I had to share.

Anyway, if you ever come to this local cafe, I highly recommend the Cashew Chicken Panini! Aside the fact that paninis are simply my favorite type of sandwiches, you can never go wrong with this particular dish here. I also tried the Culture Shock Panini today, and it was..... zesty. A swarm of revolutionary flavors definitely kick up your taste buds with each bite, justifying the term "shock" in its name. Food is delish, service is friendly, and the aura is very unique. Overall, love this place! Thus, I come here whenever I have the time.

Next week is finals week! So you probably won't hear from me until Summer Break arrives the week after. Until then...
